six nations league
our team

our history
England played their first international match against Scotland on March 27, 1871, in Edinburgh, making it the first rugby union international. They won their first match against Scotland in 1872 and dominated the early Home Nations Championship (now the Six Nations), winning numerous titles.
The team became a significant force in the early 20th century, claiming multiple Five Nations titles. Despite interruptions during the World Wars, England maintained its status as a competitive side. The 1980s saw the emergence of key players like Bill Beaumont and a strong performance in the Five Nations.
England has been a dominant force in the Six Nations Championship, winning the Grand Slam (winning all matches) a record 13 times. They hold the most championship titles among the participating nations. Traditionally, England has relied on a strong forward pack, effective kicking game, and structured play. Over time, they have incorporated more dynamic backline movements, influenced by players like Jonny Wilkinson, Owen Farrell, and Jason Robinson.
